Cuccia was born from my lifelong love of fashion, photography, and self expression, from years of creating art with and around the body. I have always believed the human form is the most intimate and powerful medium there is, and Cuccia exists to honor it exactly as it is.

To me, being a woman holds so many different states of being. Strength and softness, surrender and fire, visibility and privacy. That constant pull between wanting to be seen and wanting to stay safe in your own world. Cuccia is my way of making space for all of it. For contradiction. For the days you want to dress boldly and take up space, and for the days you want to disappear softly into comfort, with no hierarchy and no judgment.

Every piece is designed to move with you, not restrain you, so you can shift freely between presence and retreat. I want the design and cut to feel beautiful enough to be witnessed, but I also want the fabric and fit to feel so comfortable that you wear it just for yourself, to feel cozy, loved, and held.

Cuccia honors intimacy as self possession, an unfolding relationship between body, identity, and choice.

From the Founder

My birth name is Rachel Cuccia which meant my nickname was “coochie” growing up …I guess it was inevitable for me to start a thong business! I was raised in Italian Long Island with an eighties/nineties aesthetic deeply ingrained into my blood and my brain. I spent much of my adult life working as a photographer, using myself and other women as subjects, focused on capturing the sensual essence of the human body and spirit with as little coverage as possible. Naturally, my garment of choice was a thong.

At the time, I could not find the higher cut silhouettes inspired by the eighties and nineties that I wanted to wear and photograph, so I began developing my own. That was in 2015. I completed my first design, the Prima thong, but could not afford to produce it. I worked as a hot tub saleswoman for two years so I could start Cuccia without funding, investors, or partners.

To this day, Cuccia is entirely woman operated. I am the creative director, designer, and photographer, and I am the only person running this company. I answer every message, pack every order, and ship every piece with my own hands.

With a focus on slow fashion and conscious craftsmanship, bamboo fabric sits at the core of Cuccia. It was chosen for its softness, breathability, and durability, but also for what it represents. Strength and gentleness existing together. Each piece is produced in small batches using deadstock or sustainable materials, made in collaboration with local seamstresses and ethical manufacturers.

I have dedicated so much of my life to creating Cuccia, and there is no way to fully express how grateful I am for the support along the way. I often tear up and save screenshots when someone sends a kind message or shares feedback. There is nothing more motivating than knowing someone connects with the brand, whether through the imagery, the story, or the underwear itself.

Bamboo sits at the core of our collections because it reflects the same balance we aim to capture in our designs, softness paired with strength, comfort paired with presence. It grows quickly and regenerates naturally, requiring minimal intervention to thrive, and can be harvested repeatedly without harming the plant, making it one of the most renewable and low impact fibers available.

Beyond its sustainability, bamboo is uniquely suited for intimate wear. It is naturally breathable, antibacterial, and odor resistant, with thermoregulating properties that adapt to the body throughout the day. Its silky soft texture creates a smooth, second skin feel that moves with you rather than against you.

Bamboo is also biodegradable and skin friendly, offering a thoughtful alternative to heavily processed materials. Its natural UV resistance and durability have made it increasingly popular in recent years as a natural option for swimwear and sun worn garments, allowing our pieces to move seamlessly between intimate and visible moments.

For Cuccia, bamboo represents more than a material choice. It embodies the duality of feminine self expression, the ability to be soft and strong at once. Through refined silhouettes and natural fabrics, we create garments that honor the body as both art and expression, designed for women who move through the world on their own terms.
